Of Antics & Dramatics!

Back in those engineering days, we used to have a section of a class that used to be famous for their maska-maring (read: Buttering up with the profs to get on his good side for obvious reasons) And boy, did it work! Have heard and seen so many profs who used to clearly give better grades to such students. And in case such a student was not happy with her (on an average it used to be mostly her than him) marks, she would then run off to the prof's desk; and with a few tears and babytalk "pleeeasse sirrrr"(s), Voila! You would see an sudden increase of the clas average!

But then I thought that used to happen in schools and engineering colleges... Imagine my surprise when I saw a part of it being re-enacted in class today :D
Scene - girl is sleeping in class (refer to previous post - wet nite reasons). No big deal, half the class sleeps in most mba classes ;) Prof catches her, calls her to the front. Within the seconds taken to come to the front, the girl almost has tears streaming down her face, with an expression that would suggest the death of someone really close to her, and states in a breaking-up voice "Sirr.r.r..rrr, I am not feeling well...
The prof then beckons her to take a seat, and voila again, with that fraction of time to return back to the seat, the girl's face becomes all normal and sundry! :D

Lol! XL rawks :D

Note: This is only the academic aspect of the art of using one's feminine skills (and gender) to one's benefit. Mind you, this art is highly effective and hugely impactive in the professional front and the author seriously regrets the loss of being a guy :D

Academic aspect of wet-nites...

Second year XL life is so cool and chill as compared to the first year! Consider this. After a overnight wet-nite (mba jargon for Dance party with hard drinks and all) that ended around 7ish, morning 8:30 class.

Class scene(8:32 a.m.) Prof's on time. Number of students present in class - 2 (out of a total of 65).

Class scene(8:36 a.m.) Prof's waiting. Number of students present in class - 2.

Class scene(8:40 a.m.) Prof's still waiting. Number of students present in class - 5. Then he turns to the students and asks, "Was there a wet-nite yesterday?" We all grin back like idiots. He smiles and gives a break for an hour! :D

XL rawks :D

Mum(biker) - A fool's paradise?

"What a stupid question!" That is what the general reaction I get whenever I question any of my mumbaikar friends/batchmates if they own any bike. "Who would be idiotic enough to ride a bike in, leave alone own one!"
But why indeed I ask. And what better way than by checking it out myself. :-)

And thanks to an old friend (who is either smart enough or stupid enough to keep his pune-registered bike in Mumbai) I assign myself a beautiful 2004 150cc black model, a beauty covered in a thick layer of dust, with a broken side-indicator and a battery that's completely charged out.
First stop - The mechanic. After a few hours of tinkering around, finally the bike's all washed up and in running mode. A few kicks, and it purrs (ahem... make that roars... after all, we are talkin about a pulsar, the men's bike! ;-)) to life.

I really can't figure out what's the fuss all about. My bike travel for the weekend was something of this sort
Thursday night I pick up the bike from my friend's house in Worli --> Andheri (E)
Friday : Powai --> Bandra --> Chowpatty --> CST --> Eastern Express Highway --> Thane, Ghorbandar Road --> Andheri (E)
Saturday : Andheri (E) --> Haji Ali --> Mumbai Central --> Eastern Express --> Powai --> Andheri (E)
Sunday : Andheri (E) --> NITIE --> Kandivili --> Santa Cruz --> Worli

And seriously, leaving apart the daily jam at Santa Cruz junction on the Western Express Highway, traffic is no big thing at Mumbai. Although, for a 4 wheeler it's hell :-)

And I got this bike for the entire month ahead!
Yay!

Being Nostalgic...

Many people question my craze for Pune, many wonder over the fact that I actually enjoyed my 35 month stint at Infosys, Pune. The reasons are many, but very few of them actually are because of my work at Infy or the city. Its more of what I enjoyed and repeated, day after day, hour after hour; TP.
And the remains of it are all around me, still present at various forgotten points.
For instance, a few mins back I was searching for something in my gmail account, found so many of my utterly nonsense but beautiful TP mails. :-)

Wonder if I would ever relive these mails in the future managerial world :-/

P.S. as usual read from bottom as per numbering ;-)

7) what a pity... achi bhakar ho rahi thi :-D

---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
6) main bhi bore ho raha tha..:)
aur main to aise hi bakar mar raha tha yar...wo to main pg me login kiya aur digi me tera nam dekha to aise hi sojhi ki chalo kuch karte hai..
waise bhi jo bhi pata hai sab share karna chaiye...u are doing a gr8 job there...

ye to aise hi bakar thi...:)

---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
5) whatever... jo bhi jawab de ya na de... enough of bhakar... na tereko kuch jyada khabar hai na mere ko digicams ke bare mae.... jo malum tha maine pg par dala... kuch funde nahi mare maine....
tereko dalna hai toh reply mar... warna puri tarah sae fundu research mar aur phir mast funde de... mere taraf se discussion ending.... :)

---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
4) bhej diya... aur bata zara... google mare bina....atleast one which is avaliable in india... or in the price range we are looking at... not the SLR type.... :)
ye galat hai ki Carl zeiss sony me hi aata hai..
bohot sari cam companies are using there lenses...
they are the leaders in manufacturing lenses ...

BTW those glass fiber lenses are called as plastic lenses on blogs so I was using that term....

mera QQAD doc bhej..

---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
3) Btw there is nothing called *plastic lens! The word is glass fibre...

and point two, you didn't even know that carl-zeuis lens come only with sony....
beta eak din kya thode digicam ke sites khol diye, aise hi mat pheka kar... :) :) :)

kya baat hai guruji ka saat dene shishya bol nahi rahe hai :-D

---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
2) dhakkan... "moi" was a typo error....

and most of the *research* facts i mentioned are those which we found out yesterday night only.... tune aur jain ne jo research mara hai... uska kuch nahi likha maine :-# :-@
sab sach hi toh bola hai....

Jara update mar de pg par... jo tuje malum hai... shuruvaat kar le pg ke post ka.... :)
---------- -------------------- -------------------- ----------
1) bhaiyo ye pado..tally is becoming consultant @ pg nowadays....

we, (moi and a friend of mine) had been doing some *research* on the
digicams available out there in the range 9k to 15k... Dunno much about the
exact differences in the camera pics, but Sony LCD display rocks!!!! We saw
the Sony W series and T series (W70, W100, and Tsomething); the Canon and
Olympus LCDs are no where in comparison. (although Olympus FE 170 & 190 were
not bad - both had a tag betn 10.5k to 11.5k)

Regarding quality of pics, we found out only one thing, the basic Sony
model, which is out for 10k is a waste... in terms of pic quality (compared
to the other sony models). We could find out that by clicking a few pics...
If one is going for Sony models, please do so only for the ones with the
Carl-Zuis lens... those are good...

Research still going on... will update when we find out more...

sala maine aur jain ne mil ke itni research mari...kon kon se camere nahi
dekhe net me...(tab tally so raha tha bed pe)
tally sala hamare sath ek sham aaya...aur ab consulting kar raha hai..
"Carl-Zuis lens are good"....sale ko kal hi pata chala hai ki plastic lens
bhi aate hai...

sahi hai tally beta.....sahi manager banega tu...acha kam karayega tu bacho
se..tu sirf cleint interaction karega...

waise talli ek aur bat...sale tune likha hai "moi and a friend of mine" ---
ye singular hai ....tune kisko gina hai..jain ko ki mere ko...:))

BLAX Trip to Ghatshila

And that's in a nutshell (visual one :-D) how our biking trip to Ghatshila, a place around 40 odd km away from Jamshedpur...

Day starts at 3 a.m. in the night, that is when I go to sleep, well knowing that it'll be mighty impossible on my own to wake up in an hour to leave for the trip.

4.00 a.m.
Now comes Srini da Puttar to the rescue, who bangs on the door, shouts aloud and does all kind of noisy antics(in the process attaining a few wonderful expletives to his credit from other people on the floor who also get the benefit of his waking-up antics)

So we assemble at JLT, and finally the team trickles in slowly forming a final group of 8 members and 4 bikes.

4.30 a.m.
Two pulsars, one CBZ and one Fiero, all 4 bikes roar to glory. There is something beautiful to the sound of a bike, 10 seconds back, we were all a bunch of sleepy head s half walking half asleep. But one roar of the bike, and voila! Everybody's wide awake and ready to go! It just can't be explained! :)
Streets all empty, temperature around 10-15 degrees, and 4 bikes whizzing thru the city at speeds of 80+! Nothing beats it :o)

4.45 a.m.
We reach the Jamshedpur - Kharagpur highway. Surprisingly it's jampacked with trucks. But THAT is the least of our worries. Its the huge potholes and gaps in the road that like all over the highway till the eye can see (actually that's an erroneous stmt, it was more like the bits of tar road was present among the potholes and gaps!). We slowly move on at a avg speed of 20+ :-/

5.30 a.m.
We experience "Cause and Effect" Theory practically. Its been less than a hour since we started, and (CAUSE) the first Dhaba passes by. (EFFECT) The next 25 mins are spent at the dhaba gobbling up hot paranthas with a strangely watery yet spicy chana masala. Meanwhile the sun goes up un-noticed...
